Grant will provide sheriff's office with new ballistic vests

Owen County, Ky.

The Owen County Fiscal Court recently received a grant from the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) Insurance Program to help purchase Safariland ballistic vests for Owen County Sheriff Mark Bess and his deputies.

The vests offer more protection and added comfort along with the ability to add high visibility decals to improve officer safety.

Accepting the safety grant check (pictured) on behalf of Owen County is Judge/Executive Casey Ellis, right, who received the check from Safety and Loss Control Manager Michael Ray.

Ellis currently serves on the KACo Board of Directors and the Workers' Compensation Board, and he has been judge/executive in Owen County since 2015.

This is the second year the KACo Insurance Program has offered the competitive safety grants to members.
