PRIMARY ELECTION
First day to sign and submit nomination papers: November 5th, 2025

Filing Deadline for Candidacy for the May 2026 Primary: Friday, January 9, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

Filing deadline for non-partisan and independent Candidacy for the General Election: Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
​
Deadline to file as write-in candidate: Monday, August 24, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
​
LAST DAY to change party affiliation to vote in Primary Election in December 31st, 2025.

GENERAL ELECTION
September 19, 2026, to October 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM - Online mail-in absentee portal open for mail-in ballot requests.

October 5, 2026, at 4 PM - Last day to register or make changes for the General Election.

October 21st to 23rd and 26th to 28th, 2026 - In person, no-excuse early voting
​
November 3, 2026, from 6 AM - 6 PM - GENERAL ELECTION DAY.
NOTICE REGARDING MOTOR VEHICLE TRANSACTIONS
You must present your registration receipt and proof of insurance in order to complete your motor vehicle transaction. If you do not have the registration receipt, a duplicate can be printed at a $3.00 charge per duplicate. No exceptions.

In order to get your hunting and/or fishing license, you will need your date of birth, social security number and zip code. You have the option of visiting the Owen County Clerk’s Office to purchase your licenses, or purchasing them online at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
