Owen County Hazard Mitigation Meeting set for March 24

Updated: Apr 2, 2024

Make plans to join Owen County Emergency Management from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023, for the Northern Kentucky Hazard Mitigation Plan Community-Focused Meeting to provide input on future hazard mitigation planning in your community—Owen County, the City of Gratz, and the City of Owenton. During the meeting, we will have roundtable discussions based on jurisdiction. The meeting will take place at the Owen County Courthouse, 100 North Thomas Street, Owenton.

Mitigation planning is the foundation for guiding risk reduction investments. These investments build community resilience to future natural hazard events. The local mitigation planning process brings partners together to inform a risk reduction strategy that can be implemented using a wide range of public and private resources. Local mitigation plans demonstrate the commitment to mitigation across multiple sectors, such as Infrastructure and economic development, to reduce natural hazard risk.

I read this post about the Owen County hazard mitigation meeting set for March 24 and how it talks about steps the community can take to stay safe and plan for risks. It reminded me of a time in school when I felt stuck and thought Do my online calculas class because the problems look hard.' Sitting down with one problem at a time and slowly working through each step helped me finish and understand more. Small efforts add up.

I read the notice about the Owen County hazard mitigation meeting set for March 24, where local emergency managers want people in the community to help plan how to reduce risk from future natural hazards and make the county stronger against floods and storms. Last semester I was overwhelmed with assignments and had to pay to do my class just to keep up when everything hit at once. your post makes me smile.
