Owenton, Kentucky, nestled in the rolling hills of Owen County, has proven to be a very good place to call home for many people. Owenton was incorporated in 1828. We are a suburban community, providing small-town charm, safe neighborhoods and caring people. Today it is a quaint little town with a population of almost 1400 in the city and some 635 households.
We are strategically located in the center of the cities formed by Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati, thus referred to as the "Center of the Golden Triangle." We are proud of our small-town roots and strong sense of community as evidenced by a single visit to the weekly farmers' market, featuring local vendors, annual county fair and horse show or Sweet Owen Day Festival.
Between the antique shops, bed and breakfasts, good eating places and the beauty of nature, we have become a wholesome place to live or visit. We could very well be one of Kentucky's best kept secrets - come see what we have to offer, you won't be disappointed!
